Purpose

This guide explains how to update your Minecraft Java Edition server modpack using our Game Panel’s one-click modpack installer.

Disclaimer

CLW specifies which packages we recommend for modding. If you attempt to mod a server that is not included in our recommended builds (other than vanilla), we cannot provide support for potential server instability issues.

Prerequisite

You already have a modpack installed that you want to update.

Ensure your server is stopped.

Procedure

  1. (Optional) In your Game Panel under the Management tab, click Backups, then click Create to make a new backup.

  2. (Optional) Enter a name for the backup and click Submit.

  3. In your Game Panel under the Management section, click File Manager.

  4. Locate your world folder. By default, it is named world.

If you don’t see a folder named world, you may have renamed it. The world name is typically defined on line 30 of server.properties.

  5. Compress the world folder into an archive and download it.

Note: If you’ve modified any config files (e.g., server.properties or mod-specific configs), download them as well, or they will be lost.

  6. After downloading your world file (and any additional files), go to the Tools section and open the Modpack Manager.

  7. Search for the modpack you want to install and click Install.

  8. Choose the new version of the modpack from the dropdown menu, enable the Format option, and click Install.

  9. Wait for the confirmation that the modpack has been successfully installed.

  10. In the Management section, go back to File Manager.

  11. Click Upload and re-upload the world file you previously downloaded.

  12. Decompress the uploaded world zip. Once extracted, you should see a folder named world (or the custom name you used in server.properties).
