This article explains how to change your Minecraft server version/edition from Vanilla to Forge, NeoForge, CraftBukkit, Fabric, and more.
CLW clearly specifies which packages are recommended for modding. If you attempt to mod a server that is not recommended for builds other than Vanilla, we cannot provide support for server instability issues.
Make sure you have stopped your server.
This guide demonstrates how to set up a Forge server from the default Vanilla build.
Access your game panel and log in – more information about accessing the game panel.
Navigate to Configuration > Server Actions
Note: Advanced has been renamed to Server Actions
Select the edition you want from the dropdown menu.
This example shows preloading the server from Vanilla to selecting NeoForge instead.
Choose your desired version from the version dropdown box.
Note: If you don’t see the latest version available, you can raise a support ticket. Keep in mind there may be a slight delay before new versions appear in the Game Panel, as this process is not immediate and is outside of CLW’s direct control.
Click Install Different Edition. You may also choose FORMAT if you want a clean install (note that this will wipe all world and player data).
Watch the Game Panel notifications for the installation progress.
Note: Attempting to access the server while installation is in progress may result in timeouts or errors.
Start your server. In this example, the server is now running a NeoForge build.
